Keep Your Modem & Save $5/Month

Bring your own compatible DOCSIS 3.1 cable modem to NetJOI and save $5 every month.

Switching Internet providers should not mean replacing equipment you already own. If you purchased a compatible DOCSIS 3.1 cable modem from a previous provider or bought one separately, you may be able to keep using it with NetJOI.

Bringing your own modem can lower your monthly bill, avoid unnecessary equipment shipments, and let you continue using the router, mesh system, or home-network setup you already know.

Not sure whether your modem qualifies? We confirm compatibility based on the exact model, your address, and the cable network serving your area.

Save $5 every month
Customers who use an approved compatible DOCSIS 3.1 cable modem receive an ongoing $5 monthly discount on their NetJOI Internet plan. The discount continues for as long as approved customer-owned equipment remains on the service.

Use Your Own Compatible Modem

Why Keep Your Existing Modem?

Keeping your modem can make switching providers simpler. You avoid replacing compatible equipment, continue using a setup you already understand, and do not have to wait for a NetJOI modem to be shipped once compatibility is confirmed.

  • Save $5/month with approved compatible equipment
  • Avoid waiting for a NetJOI modem shipment
  • Make switching providers simpler
  • Keep the setup you already know
  • Reduce unnecessary equipment waste
  • Keep your preferred router, mesh, or gaming setup

Modem ≠ Router

Modem vs. Router vs. Mesh Wi-Fi

A cable modem connects your home to the Internet provider’s network. A router or mesh system takes that connection and distributes it to phones, laptops, TVs, gaming consoles, and other devices throughout your home.

Some equipment combines the modem and Wi-Fi router in one unit, while other setups use separate devices. That is why we need the exact make and model number—not simply the name of your Wi-Fi system.

Not sure what you have?
Send us the make and model number, or a clear photo of the equipment label, and we will help identify it.

Compatibility Confirmed Before Activation

Compatible Modems by Province

To bring your own modem to NetJOI, it must support DOCSIS 3.1 and be approved for the cable network serving your address. The models below are approved for use in the provinces shown.

Not sure what DOCSIS 3.1 means?
DOCSIS 3.1 is the modern cable technology used for new NetJOI activations. Learn how DOCSIS 3.1 modems work →

Modem-only models require a separate router or mesh Wi-Fi system. Models with built-in Wi-Fi combine the modem and wireless router in one unit.

We typically need the modem manufacturer, exact model, serial number, and cable MAC address to review compatibility.
